5 Star - Excellent series with just the right balance of romance and suspense (First three books)

Mary Martinez is a truly gifted writer and I don’t know how I didn’t find her sooner.
We meet the Beckett family and learn their hopes, dreams, fears and losses. This is series about a family legacy and life.
The series includes 3 books- Quiet, Disappear and Innocent.
In the first book we meet several characters and get a good feel for the Beckett family. It is definitely a fast paced suspense.
The author knows New York well as she was able to bottle the NY city pulse and have it snap to life in this read. Tyler and Kiera interact very well and the mix of romance and suspense is perfectly balanced.
The second book was just as good and by then I felt at home with the characters. I liked that the author brought several characters from the first book that we didn’t find too much about at that time- into this book.
Jessica and Gabe also bring us a good mix of romance and suspense. I enjoyed finding out more about Gabe as I recalled him from the previous book.
I think this was a smart move and again validates the author’s prowess as a writer. As a reader it answered questions about some of the characters that we caught glimpses of in the first book but didn’t really get to know.
The third book adds a bit of a twist and shades of “The BodyGuard”. I liked the interaction between Detective Solomon who by now was like a family friend to me as he had been in the previous books. The character interaction between him and Christine was excellent.
I liked being able to move from one book straight to the other which is a great benefit of having a boxed set.
The author does a great job getting insider the characters heads and make them real. Batt being super creepy was played out well enough on paper to give me the chills and make my stomach churn when he came into the story. I think when an author can bring that sort of physical response to a reader that speaks more than any review could sum up.
Excellent set and I definitely recommend it.
