Romance and Misconceptions
What happens when one small misconception changes the lives of six people? Oops, I mean seven; I keep forgetting little Abbie gets a dad.
Marnie and Melissa Hansen are identical twins, they are totally opposite of each other. Marnie loves anything artsy fartsy, dreams of marrying a passionate struggling artist someday, and she can't stand businessmen. She refers to them as suits, and she doesn't mean it as a compliment. Melissa on the other hand dreams of a family and a white picket fence. The American dream. Mostly she dreams of a future with her boss, David Bowman, who is most definitely a suit and does not want the American dream. Thank you very much! Jared Collins is a friendly business rival of David's and they compete for many of the same accounts. When Jared's young, impressionable gardener, Shane, overhears a conversation, he decides he needs to take revenge on behalf of his boss. Shane's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he means well. That small misconception is what changes the lives of all of these people, including the beautiful caretaker of Jared's lodge and her daughter. |

Goodreads reviewer, Gina:
... the story is surprisingly well written. It's a fast paced and gripping read. The characters are well developed and you like some and dislike others. There's the typical dimwitted criminal element and then the standard comedy of errors romance element. At the core of the story is a lot of good hearted people who don't want to end up heartbroken. A feel good romance with a happy ending...

Melissa stood in front of her bathroom mirror removing her makeup, her nightly ritual. Tonight however she kept pausing to go over her day. If she didn’t stop daydreaming about her boss, she was never going to get to bed. She’d end up over sleeping. Finally pulling her thoughts back to the task at hand, she finished. She turned and grabbed her nightgown hanging on the back of the door. It was a flannel affair with a big frowning duck on the front, holding a cup of coffee, the lettering announcing the duck was not a morning person. As she pulled it over her head, she imagined Marnie was probably wearing the latest style of lingerie from Victoria's Secret. Oh well, at least I’m comfortable. Then she reached to turn the light out, as she did so, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. The image of David flashed through her mind. She actually blushed at the thought of him ever seeing her in anything so horrible, if comfortable.

In the next room, Marnie stood in front of her own mirror applying face cream. Her attire was exactly what Melissa had imagined. As she worked the cream into her smooth skin, she thought of her sister in the next room. Melissa’s probably wearing that god-awful duck thing. She would need to work on Melissa’s image if she wanted to get Mr. D to fall in love with her. Well she would think about it tomorrow. She had a busy day, if she got the coffee account, which she was sure she would, she needed to make room for new stock.
