Welcome, Anna Stewart, author of warm, family romances with an unexpected kick of excitement.
My question to Anna:
If you couldn't be a writer what would you be when you grow up:
I'm a bit too obsessed with all the cookie decorating videos online (thanks so much, Facebook). Once upon a time I worked in a cookie decorating store (Cookie Creations which, alas, is no more), and really loved the work. My last project was actually a Star Wars cookie basket and I managed to do R2-D2 and Yoda on their own cookies! Wish I'd thought to take pictures.
If I had my (outside writing) career to do over again, I'd have loved to have gone to cooking school. I wasn't the greatest in the kitchen growing up, but some of my fondest memories was of my Grandmother cooking and I think that rubbed off on me. That and my mom's pot roast. These days it's cooking that I turn to when my plots get bogged down or I just need to decompress. I'm one of those crazy people who love the holidays because of all the cooking and baking (and giving away) of food that all entails. It's only been the last decade or so that we have the Food Network, so that's my one go-to channel when everything else (like the news) gets so depressing and disturbing. It's really hard to stay low when you're heading out to Diners, Drive-Ins, and Drives, or venturing off to Italy with Giada. My most recent "don't miss" though, is The Pioneer Woman, but I don't make many of her recipes. She cooks for cowboys...a lot of them, and there are only two of us in the house. I don't need leftovers for a month, LOL.
But I might just try some of that cookie decorating this holiday season. Hmmm...would those make good giveaways for my Facebook fans? I wonder...
